Yukio Mishima Exhibition at the Tsuchiya Bunmei Memorial Museum of Literature
During the final months of the Pacific War, Yukio Mishima was mobilized to work at the Koizumi Plant of Nakajima Aircraft Company in Ota, Gunma Prefecture. During this time, he devoted himself wholeheartedly to literature, developing his own literary world.
This exhibition offers a vivid glimpse of Mishima in his youth through materials including postcards he sent from Gunma to his family and friends, some of which are being exhibited for the first time.
Manuscripts and creative notebooks accompany stories behind celebrated works such as The Sound of Waves, The Temple of the Golden Pavilion, and The Sea of Fertility, exploring Mishima’s beginnings as a writer.
